Barcelona to Honor Late Team Doctor in Champions League Clash

Barcelona's head coach, Hansi Flick, has announced that the team will play their upcoming Champions League match against Benfica in honor of their late team doctor, Carles Miñarro García, who passed away suddenly on Saturday.

Miñarro's unexpected death occurred at the team hotel just hours before their scheduled La Liga match against Osasuna, leading to the postponement of that game. The loss has deeply affected the team, with Flick describing Miñarro as a "great person and a great doctor" who was "a fundamental part of our team who will be dearly missed."

Despite the emotional challenge, Flick expressed confidence in his team's focus and determination to secure a victory in Miñarro's memory. He noted that the players are "very focused on the game and we want to play for him."

Barcelona leads the tie 1-0 from the first leg and is currently on a 16-game unbeaten run across all competitions. They are also leading La Liga and have reached the Copa del Rey semi-finals, highlighting their strong form this season.

The team has requested UEFA's permission to hold a minute of silence before the match to honor Dr. Miñarro.
