The Colleges of Education Academic Staff Union (COEASU) has praised Nigerian President Bola Tinubu for suspending a 40% deduction from the internally generated revenues of federally owned tertiary institutions.
This announcement was made through Nigeria News today on Monday. The union described the policy as a "backward" one that will be resisted by the government. The union praised Tinubu's sensitivity and amiability in suspending the policy, which aimed to prevent a faceoff between labor and government. They urged Tinubu to use this approach to address funding challenges in the College of Education system and other tiers of the tertiary education sector. The union also called for the government to adopt an alternative dispute resolution approach.
