On April 26, 2025, Pope Francis was laid to rest in a solemn and inclusive funeral ceremony that drew an estimated 250,000 mourners to St. Peter’s Square in Vatican City. The funeral Mass, presided over by Cardinal Giovanni Battista Re, honored the pontiff's legacy of compassion, humility, and advocacy for the marginalized.
