Hamas political leader, Ismail Haniyeh killed in Iran

Ismail Haniyeh, a Hamas political leader, was murdered in Tehran, Iranian state media Press TV said on Wednesday, citing the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

Haniyeh was the terrorist group's exiled political commander, having spent much of his time in recent years in Qatar.

During the Israel-Gaza conflict, he served as a negotiator in cease-fire talks and communicated with Hamas' key ally, Iran.

Hamas published a statement immediately after claiming that Haniyeh and his bodyguard were slain in a "Zionist raid" on his Tehran home after attending the new Iranian president's inauguration.

CNN adds that it is unclear when Haniyeh was killed, and that it has contacted the Israeli military for comment on Hamas' claims.

KUGJAY MEDIA reports that Israeli bombings killed three of Haniyeh's sons and four of his grandkids in April, according to Hamas.
