Killaboi Extradited to Nigeria to Face Murder Charges

The Nigeria Police Force has successfully extradited Benjamin Best Nnayereugo, also known as "Killaboi," from Doha, Qatar, to Nigeria to face murder charges. He is accused of killing 21-year-old Augusta Oseodion Onuwabhagbe, a first-class student at Lead City University, Ibadan, on July 13, 2023, at his residence in Ajah, Lagos.

After the alleged crime, Nnayereugo fled Nigeria and released an online video confessing to the act, which authorities believe was an attempt to mislead investigators. He was declared wanted by the Lagos State Criminal Investigation Department on October 13, 2023, prompting INTERPOL to issue a Red Notice for his global apprehension.

Nnayereugo was initially arrested in Freetown, Sierra Leone, on October 20, 2023, under the alias "Kanu Princeton Samuel." However, he escaped custody during a prison break on November 26, 2023. Subsequent intelligence revealed he had traveled through various regions, including West Africa, East Asia, and the Middle East, using forged identities. He eventually settled in Doha, Qatar, under the name "Toure Abdoulaye," using a fraudulent Guinean passport.

Through international cooperation and advanced biometric verification, INTERPOL's National Central Bureau in Abuja, in collaboration with INTERPOL Doha, confirmed his identity. Qatari authorities arrested him in February 2025, and following an official extradition request processed via Nigeria's Ministry of Justice, he was returned to Nigeria in the early hours of April 19, 2025.

Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, commended the collaborative efforts of INTERPOL, the Nigerian Ministry of Justice, the Government of Qatar, and the Nigerian Embassy in Qatar for their roles in securing Nnayereugo's return. He assured the public of the Nigeria Police Force's commitment to ensuring the suspect faces diligent prosecution.
