Pope Francis' Health Improves Amid Hospitalization

Pope Francis is commemorating the 12th anniversary of his papacy while hospitalized at Rome's Gemelli Hospital, where he has been receiving treatment for double pneumonia since February 14. The 88-year-old pontiff's condition has shown significant improvement; recent chest X-rays indicate notable recovery, and he is no longer considered in immediate danger. He continues to receive oxygen therapy during the day and uses a mechanical mask at night to aid his breathing.

Despite his hospitalization, Pope Francis has remained engaged with his duties, participating remotely in a Lenten spiritual retreat and expressing gratitude to healthcare workers and volunteers for their care.

The Vatican has not specified when he will be discharged, and it remains uncertain how his health will impact his future role as the leader of the Catholic Church.

Throughout his 12-year tenure, Pope Francis has been recognized for implementing significant reforms within the Vatican, promoting inclusivity, and addressing contemporary issues. His current health challenges have prompted discussions about the future leadership of the Church, especially considering his previous openness to the possibility of resignation if health impeded his duties.
