Favourites Morocco opened their Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) campaign with a 3-0 victory over 10-man Tanzania in Group F on Wednesday at the Laurent Pokou Stadium.
Captain Romain Saiss scored a rare goal to put the World Cup semi-finalists ahead at halftime, and Azzedine Ounahi and Youssef En-Nesyri added two more in three minutes in the second half to cement their standing as pre-tournament favorites and championship contenders.
Morocco took the lead after Tanzanian goalkeeper Aishi Salum Manula stopped a free kick, which landed in front of Romain Sass, who shot into the goal.
Morocco continued to dominate against the underdogs, with better chances, while Tanzania managed only two shots but failed to score.
