The most recent incident involving the fatal shooting of a farmer in Ogun State occurred on November 27, 2024, when 49-year-old community chief Ogunleye Olaegbe was attacked and killed by suspected herdsmen while working on his farm in Oke-Oha Village, Imeko Afon Local Government Area. The Ogun State Police Command confirmed the incident and launched an investigation to apprehend the perpetrators.

Prior to this, on July 15, 2024, a maize farmer named Ogar Fidelis was found dead with severe machete wounds on his farm in the Odomosibi area of Ijebu-Igbo. The police initiated an investigation into this incident as well.
