Recent Developments in Nigeria's Fuel Pricing

Dangote Petroleum Refinery has announced a reduction in the ex-depot price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), commonly known as petrol, by ₦65—from ₦890 to ₦825 per litre—effective February 27, 2025.

This move aims to provide financial relief to Nigerians ahead of the Ramadan season and supports President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's economic recovery efforts.

This is the second price reduction in February 2025; earlier this month, the refinery decreased the price by ₦60 per litre. In December 2024, during the yuletide season, the price was reduced by ₦70.50, from ₦970 to ₦899.50 per litre.

With the latest adjustment, petrol prices at partner retail outlets are expected to be:

  • MRS Holdings stations: ₦860 per litre in Lagos, ₦870 in the South-West, ₦880 in the North, and ₦890 in the South-South and South-East.

  • AP (Ardova Petroleum) and Heyden stations: ₦865 per litre in Lagos, ₦875 in the South-West, ₦885 in the North, and ₦895 in the South-South and South-East.

Dangote Petroleum Refinery assures the public of a consistent supply of petroleum products, with sufficient reserves to meet domestic demand and a surplus for export to enhance the country's foreign exchange earnings. The company calls on marketers to support this initiative, ensuring that Nigerians benefit directly from the price reduction.
