Anambra Police Rescue Kidnapped Victim After High-Speed Chase in Amawbia

The Anambra State Police Command successfully rescued a kidnapped victim in Umuege Village, Amawbia, Awka South Local Government Area, on Tuesday, April 22, 2025. The operation was carried out by officers from the Central Police Station, Awka, following a swift response to information about the abduction.​

 

According to Police Public Relations Officer SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the rescue was achieved through a high-speed chase and strategic positioning of the operatives. The kidnappers, operating in an unmarked Sienna vehicle, abandoned the victim at Umunya along the Enugu–Onitsha Expressway and fled the scene.

 

The victim has been safely returned and debriefed for necessary action. Commissioner of Police Ikioye Orutugu has ordered a comprehensive investigation into the incident. ​

 

This rescue operation is part of the ongoing "Operation Udo Ga Chi – Zero Kidnapping" initiative launched on April 14, 2025, aimed at eradicating kidnapping and enhancing security across Anambra State.
