Nigerian singer Timaya has raised concerns over the destruction of farmlands in Bayelsa State by herdsmen grazing their cattle. On March 18, 2025, he took to social media to urge the government to address the issue, stating, "Pls the government should do something. They are destroying farms in Bayelsa. Aboki, take your cow inside and feed them. This is so sad."

His comments have sparked mixed reactions online. Some supporters thanked him for speaking out, while others criticized his use of the term 'Aboki' and questioned the timing of his advocacy, suggesting he remained silent when similar incidents occurred in other regions. 

The issue of herdsmen destroying farmlands has been a recurring problem in Bayelsa State. There have been reports of protests by locals, including women barricading roads to demand government intervention after incidents of farm destruction and alleged assaults by herders. 

This situation highlights the ongoing tensions between farmers and herders in Nigeria, underscoring the need for effective policies to address land use and grazing practices to prevent conflicts and protect livelihoods.
