The ancient city of Oyo is abuzz with excitement as it prepares for the coronation of Oba Abimbola Akeem Owoade I as the 46th Alaafin of Oyo today, April 5, 2025. The ceremony is scheduled to take place at Olivet Baptist High School in Oyo, with Governor Seyi Makinde and other dignitaries expected to attend.

In anticipation of the event, security measures have been heightened, with operatives deployed to strategic locations within the city and surrounding communities to ensure a smooth and secure ceremony.

Oba Owoade, aged 47, hails from the royal Owoade-Agunloye family in Oyo town. He completed his secondary education at Baptist High School, Saki, Oyo State.

The coronation marks the beginning of a new era for the Oyo Kingdom, with residents and well-wishers gathered to celebrate the ascension of their new monarch.
