Sweden's Deadliest Mass Shooting Leaves 11 Dead

On February 4, 2025, a tragic mass shooting occurred at Campus Risbergska, an adult education center in Örebro, Sweden, resulting in the deaths of at least 11 individuals, including the perpetrator. This incident is considered the deadliest mass shooting in Swedish history.

 

The attack began shortly after 12:30 PM local time. Six people were hospitalized, five with gunshot wounds; one remains in life-threatening condition. Authorities believe the shooter, a 35-year-old man with a hunting license, acted alone and was found dead at the scene. He had no prior criminal record or gang affiliations, and his motives remain under investigation.

 

Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson described the day as "very painful for Sweden," and King Carl XVI Gustaf expressed condolences to the victims and their families. The community is receiving support as authorities continue to investigate the incident's motive and impact.
