Authorities apprehend 31-year-old suspect for burglary in Ogun.

The Ogun State Police Command has been actively addressing burglary incidents in the region. In a recent case, 31-year-old Lukpata Micheal was arrested for allegedly breaking into a house near the Igode area, causing damages and theft amounting to approximately ₦2.6 million. The suspect reportedly destroyed a ceiling valued at ₦200,000, a window burglary system worth ₦100,000, and stole items including electrical cables, wires, sockets, aluminum casements, and window frames with glasses totaling ₦1,850,000. The arrest followed a report by the homeowner, Orukpe Emmanuel, who discovered the extensive damage and theft. The police have initiated a preliminary investigation into the incident.

This arrest is part of a broader effort by the Ogun State Police to combat burglary and related crimes. In January 2025, the command apprehended 27-year-old David Adediji for allegedly breaking into a home in the Okorowepo, Idiroko area. The suspect was accused of entering the residence through a window, damaging the iron security bars, and assaulting the occupant with an iron rod before stealing valuables worth over ₦200,000.

These incidents highlight the ongoing challenges of burglary in Ogun State. The police command continues to urge residents to report suspicious activities promptly and to implement security measures to safeguard their properties.
