China Retaliates Against New U.S. Tariffs

In response to President Donald Trump's recent imposition of a 10% tariff on Chinese imports, China has announced a series of retaliatory measures. Starting February 10, China will implement additional tariffs of 15% on U.S. coal and liquefied natural gas (LNG), and 10% on crude oil, agricultural machinery, large-engine vehicles, and pickup trucks.

Beyond tariffs, China's State Administration for Market Regulation has initiated an antitrust investigation into Google, focusing on the company's limited operations within China. Additionally, China has added several critical metals, such as tungsten and tellurium—essential for semiconductors and batteries—to its export control list. Beijing has also filed a complaint with the World Trade Organization, alleging that the U.S. tariffs violate international trade rules.

These actions mark a significant escalation in the ongoing trade tensions between the two nations, with potential implications for global supply chains and economic stability.
