The PDP NWC Rejects Wabara’s Suspension, Declaring It Unconstitutional.

The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has declared the suspension of Senator Adolphus Wabara, the party's Board of Trustees (BoT) Chairman, by the Abia State chapter as null and void. The NWC emphasized that the state chapter lacks the authority to suspend a member of the National Executive Committee (NEC) without proper consultation with the NWC, as outlined in Section 57 (7) of the PDP Constitution (as amended in 2017).

This development follows the Abia State chapter's suspension of Senator Wabara over allegations of anti-party activities, specifically his endorsement of Governor Alex Otti for a second term in October 2024. The state chapter viewed this endorsement as a breach of party loyalty and initiated disciplinary actions against him.

In response, the NWC condemned the suspension as reckless and unconstitutional, cautioning those involved to adhere strictly to the party's constitution. The NWC also called on all party members and stakeholders to disregard the purported suspension and maintain unity within the party.
