The Nigeria Police Force has arrested dancer Idowu Smart Emmanuel, popularly known as Lil Smart, following a petition filed by singer Azeez Fashola, also known as Naira Marley.

According to the police, Lil Smart was apprehended for alleged criminal defamation, cyberstalking, cyberbullying, and spreading falsehoods against Naira Marley. Investigations revealed that Lil Smart, using his Instagram handle @lilsmart_, falsely claimed that he was abducted, assaulted, and robbed of $300, and further alleged that Naira Marley had bribed police officers in Lagos and was involved in credit card fraud.
 

The police stated that Lil Smart later admitted in writing that these allegations were false and lacked evidence. He was arrested on January 28, 2025, at his residence in Megamound Estate, Ajah, Lagos, where exhibits related to the crime were recovered
