Ortom and Anyanwu missing as PDP disciplinary committee starts proceedings.

As of February 12, 2025, former Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom and Senator Samuel Anyanwu did not appear before the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Disciplinary Committee, chaired by former Foreign Affairs Minister Tom Ikimi. Both individuals cited the absence of official invitations as the reason for their non-attendance. Ortom's media aide, Terver Akase, stated that Ortom is willing to appear before the panel once he receives a formal invitation. Similarly, Anyanwu affirmed his readiness to honor the invitation upon official notification.

The PDP has been experiencing internal conflicts since the 2023 presidential election, leading to the establishment of the National Disciplinary Committee in August 2024 to address grievances and recommend actions to the National Executive Committee. The committee had summoned Ortom, Anyanwu, and 10 other unnamed party members to appear on February 12, 2025, at the Legacy House in Maitama, Abuja. However, as of February 10, 2025, both Ortom and Anyanwu reported not having received official invitations.

The disciplinary committee has reviewed five petitions to date and has decided to step down three of them to avoid jeopardizing ongoing reconciliation efforts within the party. The remaining two petitions involve Ortom and Anyanwu. The committee has emphasized its commitment to maintaining discipline and restoring the party's integrity.

The PDP continues to navigate internal challenges, with efforts focused on reconciliation and unity among its members
