Eddie Howe Hospitalized with Pneumonia

Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe has been hospitalized after being diagnosed with pneumonia. The 47-year-old was admitted late on Friday, April 11, after experiencing illness for several days. As a result, he missed Newcastle’s 4-1 victory over Manchester United on Sunday, April 13 .​

 

Howe is currently receiving specialist care and is expected to miss the club's upcoming Premier League fixtures against Crystal Palace on Wednesday, April 16, and Aston Villa on Saturday, April 19. In his absence, assistant manager Jason Tindall and first-team coach Graeme Jones will oversee the team's preparations and matchday responsibilities .

 

Despite his hospitalization, Howe remains engaged with the team's progress. He expressed gratitude for the support received, stating, "A huge thank you to everyone connected with Newcastle United and the wider football community for your messages and warm wishes. They have meant a lot to me and my family. I also want to pay tribute to our incredible NHS and the hospital staff who have treated me. I'm immensely grateful for the specialist care I'm receiving and, after a period of recovery, I look forward to being back as soon as possible" .​

 

Under Howe's leadership, Newcastle recently secured their first major trophy in 70 years by winning the Carabao Cup against Liverpool.
