Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo, marking his first 100 days in office, has articulated a vision to elevate Edo to the position of the fifth-largest economy in Nigeria. In his address, Governor Okpebholo outlined strategic priorities including bolstering agriculture, enhancing infrastructure, and investing in youth skill development. He emphasized leveraging the state's strategic location to attract businesses across key sectors and support small and medium enterprises (SMEs).
Notably, under his administration, the state's Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) has increased to over N10 billion, the highest ever recorded in Edo. Initiatives such as interest-free loans for market women, farmers, and artisans, along with partnerships providing grants to small business owners, have been launched to stimulate economic growth. Additionally, measures to reduce food prices, improve healthcare services, and enhance security have been implemented to create a conducive environment for sustainable development.
