LAMATA Announces 18% Fare Hike for Lagos BRT Services Starting February 17

As of February 15, 2025, there is no official announcement from the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA) regarding an 18% fare increase for Lagos Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) services effective February 17. The most recent fare adjustment occurred on November 6, 2023, when Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu implemented a 25% reduction in regulated bus and train fares, which took effect on November 7, 2023.

Prior to this, on June 3, 2024, LAMATA reverted public transport fares to their original rates after a period of rebates intended to mitigate the impact of fuel subsidy removal.

Given the absence of recent official statements about a fare increase, it is advisable to consult LAMATA's official channels or reputable news outlets for the most current information regarding BRT fare changes
