Palm Sunday Message: CAN Calls for Peace, Condemns Plateau Killings

On Palm Sunday, April 13, 2025, Archbishop Daniel Okoh, President of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), issued a heartfelt appeal for peace and unity in response to the recent violent attacks in Plateau State. In his statement, Archbishop Okoh condemned the brutal killings that occurred on April 4 in Bokkos and Mangu Local Government Areas, describing them as "senseless acts of violence" that threaten Nigeria's national unity and peace.

He urged security agencies to act swiftly in apprehending the perpetrators and called on all levels of government to intensify efforts to protect communities and prevent further bloodshed. Emphasizing the significance of Palm Sunday, which commemorates Jesus Christ's triumphant entry into Jerusalem, Archbishop Okoh highlighted the enduring values of peace, humility, and sacrificial love. He called on Nigerian leaders to emulate these principles by embracing servant leadership and prioritizing the welfare of the people above personal or political interests.

Archbishop Okoh also appealed to Nigerians from all backgrounds to rise above divisions and work together in unity, stating that the journey to national renewal begins with each individual choosing to be a peacemaker in their homes, communities, and workplaces. He reminded citizens that even in the face of national trials, Palm Sunday offers a message of hope and renewal.
