In a significant political development, members of the Rivers State People's Democratic Party (PDP) caucus in the National Assembly have declared their support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's re-election bid in 2027. The endorsement was announced in a statement read by Senator Barry Mpigi on behalf of the caucus in Port Harcourt on Saturday.

The caucus, comprising two Senators and seven House of Representatives members, cited the successes of Tinubu's "Renewed Hope Agenda" and his economic policies aimed at repositioning Nigeria's economy. They also expressed gratitude for Tinubu's appointment of former Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike as the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, acknowledging his contributions to infrastructure development.​

The lawmakers urged other presidential aspirants to shelve their ambitions and support President Tinubu's re-election, emphasizing the need for unity and continuity in governance.​
