A young Nigerian woman who went missing on her way to write the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) has been found safe two days later
Esther, a UTME candidate, was reported missing by her brother, who raised the alarm on social media after she disappeared en route from Epe to Ajah, Lagos, for her exam scheduled on Friday, April 25. Her last message to her sister expressed fear and confusion, stating, "I’m scared I think I entered the wrong car, my eyes are itchy, it feels like I want to sleep."
The incident sparked widespread concern online, with many users praying for her safe return and criticizing the early exam scheduling by JAMB, which often requires candidates to travel long distances at odd hours.
Fortunately, Esther was located two days later and is now safe. Her family has expressed immense relief and gratitude to everyone who helped amplify the search for her.
This case highlights the importance of safety measures for students traveling to examination centers, especially during early hours. Parents and guardians are advised to accompany their wards to exam venues when possible and utilize location-sharing features on smartphones to monitor their movements.
