Peter Okoye Testifies in Brother's ₦1.3bn Fraud Case

On April 14, 2025, Peter Okoye, known as Mr P and one-half of the Nigerian music duo P-Square, testified in court against his elder brother and former manager, Jude Okoye, in an ongoing ₦1.3 billion fraud case. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has charged Jude with laundering ₦1.38 billion, $1 million, and £34,537.59 through his company, Northside Music Ltd .

Peter's testimony follows his 2024 petition to the EFCC, alleging that Jude diverted funds from their joint ventures into a "secret company." Jude has denied these claims, asserting that Northside Music Ltd. was not secret and that all brothers operated their own private companies .

The case has caused a rift within the Okoye family. Paul Okoye, also known as Rudeboy and Peter's twin, has publicly criticized Peter, accusing him of orchestrating Jude's legal troubles. Paul stated, "Peter is the one putting our brother in prison... the same crime they are putting on Jude, Peter is also guilty" .

Jude Okoye was arraigned before Justice Alexander Owoeye at the Federal High Court in Lagos and was remanded in Ikoyi Prison pending his bail hearing, which was scheduled for March 3, 2025 . The trial officially commenced on April 14, 2025, with Peter's testimony marking a significant development in the case.

This legal battle not only highlights serious allegations of financial misconduct but also underscores the deepening familial discord among the Okoye brothers, once united as the celebrated P-Square.
