Easter Messages: Nigerian Leaders Call for Unity, Sacrifice, and Renewed Hope

During the 2025 Easter celebrations, Nigerian leaders, including state governors and prominent political figures, emphasized themes of sacrifice, unity, and love in their messages to the nation. They called on citizens to reflect on the significance of Easter and to embody its virtues in fostering national cohesion and progress.​

 

Former President Goodluck Jonathan urged Nigerians to embrace the lessons of Christ’s resurrection, highlighting the importance of hope and unity in overcoming the nation's challenges. He emphasized that the season should inspire selflessness and a renewed commitment to national unity.​

 

Senate President Godswill Akpabio encouraged Nigerians to set aside political, religious, and ethnic differences, advocating for unity and peace as essential for national development. He also appealed to those involved in violence to respect human life and seek peaceful resolutions.​

 

Governors across various states echoed similar sentiments. Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State described Easter as a time for forgiveness and strengthening bonds across different communities. Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State called for prayers and support for leadership, emphasizing the virtues of selflessness and sacrifice. Governor Mohammed Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State highlighted the season as one of renewal and compassion, urging citizens to reaffirm their faith and service to humanity.​

 

In Rivers State, Governor Siminalayi Fubara reiterated his commitment to good governance and urged citizens to support the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu. He emphasized the importance of peace and unity in achieving national progress.​

 

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi also contributed to the discourse, calling for compassionate leadership and collective efforts to address the nation's challenges.​

These messages collectively underscore a national call for unity, selflessness, and a renewed commitment to building a more harmonious and prosperous Nigeria.​
