The Katsina State Police Command has apprehended two suspected car thieves who attempted to bribe officers with ₦1 million to evade arrest. The suspects, identified as 26-year-old Mubarak Kabir and 27-year-old Adamu Hashim from Kurna quarters in Fagge Local Government Area of Kano State, were intercepted during a routine patrol on April 11, 2025, in Birnin Kuka village, Mashi Local Government Area.
Upon stopping a green Toyota Corolla LE driven by the suspects, officers discovered the vehicle had been reported stolen from the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja. In an attempt to avoid prosecution, the suspects offered the patrol team a bribe of ₦1 million, which the officers firmly rejected. Subsequently, the suspects were taken into custody.
Recovered items include the stolen vehicle, the ₦1 million cash bribe, three mobile phones, a power bank, and a bunch of keys. The Katsina State Commissioner of Police, CP Bello Shehu, commended the officers for their integrity and dedication to duty. He reaffirmed the Command's commitment to protecting lives and property while upholding human rights.
