Farouk Adamu Aliyu, former Minority Leader of the House of Representatives and a prominent member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has affirmed that President Bola Tinubu will be the party's candidate for the 2027 presidential election. In a recent interview on Africa Independent Television (AIT), Aliyu dismissed the notion of a viable opposition coalition, asserting that efforts to unseat Tinubu are futile.
Aliyu emphasized the APC's commitment to maintaining its political dominance, stating that the party will actively work to prevent opposition parties from forming effective alliances. He used the Nigerian idiom "putting sand in their garri" to describe the APC's strategy of disrupting opposition efforts. Aliyu argued that the APC's unity and governance achievements position it favorably for the upcoming election.
He also criticized the opposition's attempts to challenge the APC, labeling them as disorganized and ineffective. Aliyu's remarks reflect the APC's confidence in its political standing and its determination to secure a second term for President Tinubu.
