International Reactions to Proposed U.S.-Russia Peace Talks

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer has emphasized that Ukraine must be central to any peace negotiations concerning the conflict with Russia. He stated that the UK will continue to support Ukraine to ensure it is in the "strongest possible position for negotiations," aiming for a "just and lasting peace" that guarantees Ukraine's security, independence, and right to self-determination.

This stance comes amid concerns from Kyiv and European allies about potential U.S.-Russia peace talks that might exclude Ukraine. Recent communications between U.S. President Donald Trump, Russian President Vladimir Putin, and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky have heightened these apprehensions. European leaders, including German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius, have criticized the U.S. for considering concessions to Russia before formal discussions, emphasizing that any peace agreement must involve Ukraine and Europe to ensure a fair and lasting resolution.

Prime Minister Starmer's comments reflect the UK's commitment to Ukraine's sovereignty and the importance of its active participation in any peace process.
