Nigeria's Position in FIFA Rankings: Recent Developments

In the latest FIFA men's world rankings released on April 3, 2025, Nigeria's Super Eagles have climbed one spot globally to 43rd position. Despite this global improvement, they have slipped to sixth place in Africa, overtaken by Côte d'Ivoire, which now holds the fifth position on the continent.

The top five African teams are now Morocco (12th globally), Senegal (19th), Egypt (32nd), Algeria (36th), and Côte d'Ivoire (41st).

This shift comes after Nigeria's recent performances in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, where they secured a 2-0 victory against Rwanda but were held to a 1-1 draw at home by Zimbabwe.

On the global stage, Argentina maintains the top position, followed by Spain, France, England, and Brazil.
