Fresh Violence in Plateau: 10 Killed in Attacks on Five Communities

At least 10 individuals were killed on Wednesday in coordinated attacks on five communities within the Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State. This tragic event occurred just six days after a similar assault in the Ruwi community, where 10 people were shot dead and three others injured during a wake-keep ceremony.

The recent surge in violence has raised concerns among residents and local authorities. The Plateau State government has urged security operatives to apprehend the perpetrators and enhance measures to prevent further incidents.

These attacks are part of a troubling pattern of violence in Plateau State. For instance, in December 2023, a series of coordinated attacks affected at least 17 rural communities in the Bokkos and Barkin Ladi areas, resulting in significant casualties and property damage.

The recurring nature of these incidents underscores the urgent need for comprehensive security strategies to protect vulnerable communities in the region.
