On March 14, 2025, the Federal High Court in Abuja dismissed the bail applications of four individuals—Musa Kamarawa, Abubakar Hashimu (also known as Doctor), Samuel Chinedu, and Lucky Chukwuma—who are allegedly linked to notorious bandit leader Bello Turji. The court's decision was based on the severity of the charges and the compelling evidence presented by the prosecution.
The defendants are accused of conspiring between 2018 and 2022 to provide material support to terrorist groups led by Turji and others. This support allegedly included supplying illicit drugs, military and police uniforms, food items, and building materials to terrorist camps in Zamfara, Sokoto, and Kaduna states. Additionally, in 2021, some defendants purportedly facilitated the acquisition of a military gun truck from Libya for approximately ₦28.5 million, which was supplied to a terrorist leader.
Given the gravity of these allegations and the strength of the evidence, the court denied bail to prevent potential interference with the judicial process and to safeguard public safety.
